Why do people dance?

Dancing has been around for as long as anyone would care to remember. Thank you to everyone who from Counties who went to the East & South dance party on Saturday. We all had a lot of fun dancing, catching up with old friends and making some new ones. It was useful to preview the new Dance With A Stranger format before the upcoming East & South competition.

Congratulations to Dale, Rose and Lorena for making it to the Beginners finals, with Lorena taking 2nd place and Rose 1st place. Bring on the East & South Champs!!

Teams are a great way to improve your dancing, improve fitness and make friends. We’re putting together two teams for a comp in September. Training starts in June so there is plenty of time to learn a fun routine. If you’re interested, let us know.

Waikato Champs 2011

A big thanks to everyone who made it to the Waikato champs. We had some great results from our own guys who competed.

We had Greg & Vicky making it to the Semi finals of the beginners. Vicky made it to the finals of the Dance With A Stranger section and Sheryl placed 3rd in the Dance With A Stranger section.

Theresa placed 1st in the Intermediate category with her dance partner Michael from Lorne St.

Steve & Andrea place 2nd in the 45+ category

Sharon & Dan made it to the finals of the Advanced B category.

Another big thanks to everyone else who made the trip down from Counties Dance to support our people compete. If you missed out this time, don’t worry there are still some more competitions this year for you to be involved in. Photos to come soon.

A lot of etiquette is common sense – although there’s the quote why do they call it common sense when it’s so rare? There are certain social rules and etiquette we use when dealing with people in everyday life, dancing is no different. This is part 1 of 2 of the dos and don’ts of dancing.
